Clinton has been the favourite for the democratic nomination for a while now - well until tonight. The betting odds seem to have just slipped against here. Will she win? I don't know - more importantly-
What do I think about Hillary-
Like much of the UK, to me, she has always been much more of a name than an actual (tv) personality. I remember, in early 2007, looking forward to a piece that Newsnight was going to be running later that night, where the story was that she was the frontrunner, and thinking - wow, how inspiring, a lady president and it looks like she's going to do it. However, when I actually watched it I was somewhat disheartened - basically, she just did not have as much charisma as Bill. Personally, I'm not a big fan of charisma in politicians - policy is always the key. But i'm a realist - I understand that in the modern world it is required of our political leaders.
So, yes, I was disheartened. Yet - nearly one year later and she was still the favourite - I was again hopeful.
And watching her in the New Hampshire debates - she was perfectly presidential . Because it was a Debate. She is a debater - interested in serious policy - this is where she comes alive.
I hope she wins.
